Description:
Bladder gentian (Gentiana utriculosa) belongs to the gentian family, flowers from May to August, grows 10 to 20 cm tall. Often found on our mountain paths, this charming little gentian has several blue flowers on a branched stem. Flowers are up to 2.5 cm long. The calyx appears inflated and is almost as long as the corolla tube. The calyx is winged along the edges. Basal leaves are mostly withered by flowering time. It prefers wet, calcareous, and humus-rich soils.
