Liverleaf (Hepatica nobilis)
Description:
The flowers of the common hepatica are blue-violet and have 6-7 petals. The hepatica, which blooms from February to April, grows up to a maximum of 20cm tall. It most commonly appears in deciduous forests with calcareous soils, less frequently in mixed forests. In cold weather, the petals close and thus protect the stamens from the cold. Common hepatica is slightly poisonous.
