Today I'm heading to Cerknica via the closest road over Rakitno.
Starting a bit above Preserje above Podpečje at 500m, where I leave the car in the forest. Ahead to Rakitno there were still quite a few km of monotonous ascent for many cyclists. There by the lake I spot a newly completed open hotel with restaurant, which due to lots of wooden materials nicely blends with the surroundings. Bravo architects!. Of course at 9am there was hardly a living soul, on the way back huge crowds. They initially wanted 50% EU rural development fund investment, later our people weren't able and the lady owner built the whole thing herself. From EU they finally sent only 5% crumbs of the total investment. The road winds uphill to the pass and it's completely new asphalt for a good year. Here at the pass 890m I turn right to nearby Novaška gora 998m, which has no view. Ahead an extremely nice road and 17km enjoyable descent on a nice high plateau with extremely little traffic. Suddenly I find myself in Cerknica. There the young are already dancing, older ones wear wide beards, like in Scotland. Wow, where have I ended up?. This town has all the institutions it needs, houses scattered quite a bit around the main town. Quickly I turn right to check out Cerkniško polje via Dolnje jezero, famous Otok, Laz pri G.jezeru, Žerovnica, Martinjak and thus close a 22km loop around Lake Cerknica. Back to Rakitno I return on the same road, which with 17km wasn't as hard as it seemed initially after the long descent. On Rakitno an MTB cyclist joins me and time to the car in Preserje passed quickly. The tour was 85.5km long, elev.gain 845m on my route, riding time 5h 14min, avg.speed 16.3km/h. The tour is very nice and low traffic with beautiful nature!. With less fitness you can start the tour right at Rakitno, good for family cyclists etc. Regards!nasmeh

If you make fun of our bearded guys, those from Slivnica will tease you a bit with broomjezikjezik.

Nice, nice, will have to turn to these parts sometime, the Gorenje otave photo appeals to me most, here it must snow in winter to be funvelik nasmehnasmehmežikanje
