Hut probably not open yet. Is there any info somewhere when it will be? Thanks for reply.

I notice lately more and more links on hribi.net, but I think that if individuals offer their pages, they can take the time to also attach some photos to the hribi.net page. No hard feelings.

Dm72, very nice tour and of course phenomenal photos. I'm interested where the statue in photo no.20 stands and if it's near the hamlet Plezzut? Best regards and more such posts!

The statue of Austrian soldier stands right above first motorway tunnel in Trbiž towards Austria. Or if going by bike path from Trbiž to Rateče left opposite Boscoverde railway station(on the hillock). Plezzut is located just before arriving to Trbiž from Bovec direction. Right by main road.

The tour to Rifugio Zacchi has been planned for a long time, on Friday I finally realized it. From Kranjska Gora past Podkoren and the lake at Rateče to Italy, where I continue on the bike trail to the junction for Belopeška lakes, but don't turn towards them instead continue on the trail a few more km. Leave the trail as it crosses the road to the lakes and join it much lower than the bike trail. That means extra ascent to the lower lake. Continue past it to the upper one, where after slight descent asphalt ends and finally gravel base comes. From here the road rises nicely evenly, the closer to the goal the steeper it gets. But it's routed nicely in serpentines allowing some rest, also exceptional views of Mangart and its wall and other peaks around serve to overcome fatigue. At the end reward is a concrete section that poses no problems. Already on the way I met quite a few visitors, in front of the hut indescribable crowd. So don't stay up there long and start descent back to valley. Descend on ascent path. In Rateče turn also to Planica, which wasn't planned, but since road renovated happily rode to ski jumps too. End the tour with cappuccino, ice cream and soaking feet in Jasna. Nice tour, especially noticeable difference in infrastructure (path, infotable, signposts...) You see how much they value cycling in one country and how much in the other

A few years ago I was up there, but the inn left me with extremely bad memory. With daughter we waited eternity for staff to take order for food and drink, but didn't get it. Calling waiters didn't help. They served everyone around us. At neighboring tables people who came after us already ate and left, while we still couldn't even order. In the end I sent one waitress to ...., filled water in bidon at toilet and went down to valley. But the ascent remained in memory as very demanding. Usually I rode all hills in one go without dismounting. Even such as Mangart (from Bovec), Vršič, Nanos, Blegoš, Kum... that time had to dismount several times and catch breath. That year didn't ride much, but year before had unforgettable season and by all rules some fitness should remain. Still it was killing me. True, at that time rolling up the hill about 100 kg (me, bike and daughter on rear seat).

The current variant is practically a "walking path" compared to the original variant A few years ago this ascent was really quite intense, in places even 25 % In 2010, when I was last up there, of the original path only the last concrete climb remained.
