Dom na Krvavcu (Marija Snežna)

This morning I set off on MTB with new Ritchey Speedmax Beta Comp 2.0 tires for a test to Krvavec.
I start in Cerklje, where I first tackle the steeper climb up to the junction for Stiška vas. Higher up the road loses quite some incline and brings you at a nice pace to Ambrož pod Krvavcem. Higher up a bit steeper ascent, then in long zigzags the road leads to Jezerca. The path always offers views into the ever deeper valley, the vegetation around you changes, the air cools, in short a pure enjoyable merging with nature and peace. The higher I am, the more it pulls me higher, so I jump over Plaža Krvavca to the Dom Krvavec 15 min away by bike. Sometimes we went to the Razor saddle and further to the top of Krvavec, but now for some years at the transmitter there is a sign prohibiting all vehicles. At Marija Snežna it was somewhat windy and quite cold for this time. There I meet a nice MTB colleague, with whom we then downhill all the way to Cerklje, he then another 2 km home to Zg. Brnik. At Ambrož a policewoman measures speed into the valley, I tell her that I'm already over 70 km/h, she goes yeah, yeah. Actually I went on the final descent section with a new speed record of 82 km/h, the road bike record here believe it or not is 115 km/h!. Champions get up there in 38 min.
Some statistics: 1300 v.m. ascent, approx 42 km, of which ascent to Dom Krvavec 21 km, avg speed to Jezerca 8.9 km/h, time there 1h38min, to Marija Snežna 2h20min, descent from there to Cerklje done in 37 min!. Bike ascent to Krvavec is the second highest by difficulty, surpassed only by the ascent to Mangart.
The tour requires a fitness-warmed recreational cyclist. Beautiful big tour that leaves you ingrained memories.

 Well, that was one young police chick who couldn't even hold a handheld radar in her hands. But they have time to watch the wind movement on tree branches.

Ritchey Speedmax are excellent fast tires with slide-terrain profile and still wide enough for a good look on MTB. They inflate up to 4.2 bar and are wired. They are even narrower only for asphalt, where some stone quickly surprises you with slipping in a corner, but these don't. With Ritchey I have very good experiences, the sidewall doesn't crack quickly either. With them today I really enjoyed and attacked corners full-on. Even colleague, a good cyclist, said I went down really well.

I always started from the Kamnik side. Well, I actually started from home in LJ, since I also rode to Kamnik on two wheels. Otherwise the ascent is quite long, but to the upper cable car station no panic. Further on it's real slog, since the path is bad (quite coarse gravel), and the slope for most part quite steep. Usually I persisted on the bike to the transmitter, only once I pushed on Zvoh. Of course somewhere there where the cobblestones start I dismounted and pushed the bike further. But then the descent from Zvoh I executed quite amateurishly and with my groin painfully hit the upper tube of the bike and almost flew over the handlebar. We were even greener back then. Anyway, for some reason the ascent to Krvavec was never really appealing to me. But it's true, downhill it flies like lightning. The road is fairly wide with some sharp turns, between which it is very nicely and fluidly laid out.

Again a bit to home Krvavec with MTB
I start the tour in a fresh morning, while gaining height I escape the stuffiness, for downhill anyway it's always windy. In between the locals were diligently training with road bikes. At the completely new Rozka hut I chat with the hostess Marija and almost with open mouth listen how in mere three months before winter including removal of the entire previous burned hut, they built an even bigger house, a hotel. Daily up there 75 workers of various crafts worked. In between autumn, when there was no hustle, first snow fell twice on the plateau. Just spiral piles for the whole house took 17 trucks of about 10 m³ each, roof is additionally attached to profiles with rostfrei wire anchors, due to wind. Up there now temperature drops at night to 7°C, so one needs to cover well for sleeping. Guests come from France, Germany, Croatia... extremely modern home solutions, 5000 l water tank, possible floor washing with hose of water line, heating on solar collectors, central wood stove. All floors and bedding from special antibacterial carpet materials, TV, internet, lights in corridors, fire doors in interior rooms... hats off for this work to the masters, even more to the owner who watches over the quality of the execution works and himself now finishes. After beer just 2.5 € I head to Marija Snežna, where in the shade and cool of the stone fence I dozed a bit. Down it went again like a greased ski, to the car in 35 min with up to 79 km/h here and there, nice day
