Description of peak:
Velika Boncla is a 1241 m high, partly rocky peak located between Javorniški Rovt and mountain pasture Stamare in the Karavanke Mountains. The steep southern slope just below its summit offers a beautiful view towards Slovenski Javornik and Kočna, part of the Gorges and the Bled corner. The view from here also extends to the Bohinj Mountains, Ratitovec, Jelovica and Pokljuka, and to the west to the Julian Mountains with Triglav and Škrlatica. To the north, Barentaler Kotschna rises above us with Belska planina on the left.
Velika Boncla, together with Mala Boncla , appears in some older maps under the name Bavha, which is said to mean white cow in folk jargon.
