Badasconytomaj - Badacsony (north path)

Access to the starting point:
From the Pomurje motorway, take the Dolga Vas exit and then continue to Hungary. The route ahead takes you through Redics, then follow signs for Zalaegerszeg, and from there towards Lake Balaton, Heviz and Keszthely. When you reach Keszthely, turn onto the bypass and follow the signs for Balatonfuered (there are roundabouts along the bypass). At the end of Keszthely, when the road to Sopron turns off, we continue east, but only for 2 km, and then turn right towards the village of Badacsonytoerdemic. Continue through the village (the road is cobbled in the middle of the village). After leaving the village, go right at the first crossroads in an easterly direction. The road will become a four-lane road. Exactly at the point where the road starts to descend gently towards Badacsonytomaj after a slight climb, you will see steps with blue markings on the right. There are no suitable parking places at the starting point, so you should park in a suitable place on the roadside before or after the trailhead (preferably at the turn-off of a side road).
The Lendava - Pince - Tornyszentmiklos - Nagykanizsa - Balatonszentgyörgy - Keszthely exit is slightly shorter, but it is much more difficult in terms of orientation.

Path description:
From where you parked, first walk to the trailhead and then start climbing the stairs. When the stairs end, the path is laid out and we can see our destination ahead of us. The path we follow quickly leads us to a dirt road, which we follow straight ahead. The road gradually turns into cart track, and we then continue to the right at two crossroads. The path continues between vineyards and then reaches a cemetery, after which you quickly arrive at a crossroads by a fountain. Here we continue south to the left, where we quickly reach the next crossroads. Here again, bear left and continue along the path over which there are concrete slabs. The path becomes steeper and gradually becomes a narrower cart track. The narrow cart track quickly joins the wider one, and we follow it in a straight line. The way ahead leads us past the last brick house by the vineyard, then into the forest. We climb through the forest for a while, then reach a point where it joins the path that circles the summit of Badacsony (the path marked by the red line). Just cross this path and then you will reach the most interesting part of the trail (Kökapu), where you will join the trail from the centre of Badacsonytomaj (Kökapu is a steep passage through a rocky world of basalt rocks and stalactites). Above the Kökapu area, the trail dips and a path branches off to the right to a nearby lookout point, and we continue straight ahead to reach a crossroads where we continue on the left path (the right path is marked with blue plus signs and later joins the west path).
The path ahead becomes steeper again, and just below the summit it flattens out and joins the paths from the south and west. Here, continue left again and in a few 10 steps of further walking you will reach the forested summit.
From the top, you can climb at your own risk to the lookout tower, from which you will have a view that reaches all the way to Donačka gora, Boč, Ivanščice, Ravna gora and Pohorje.
