Badacsony

Description of peak:
Badacsony is the highest volcano in Tapolcai Medence. Its distinctive feature is that it descends steeply from the south-east into Lake Balaton itself. There are several viewpoints on the summit plateau, and the summit itself is in the forest, but there is a lookout tower from which you can get a really nice view of Lake Balaton and the surrounding extinct volcanoes. With excellent visibility, the view reaches all the way to Boč, Donačka Gora and Pohorje. Several marked trails lead to the summit from nearby places, and there is also a pleasant circular path around the summit plateau.
