Access to the starting point:
a) From Brežice or Krško, drive to Bizeljsko and from there continue to Bistrica ob Sotli. When you reach a small pass, leave the main road and drive left towards Sveti Gory. Park in a suitable place just after the crossroads. Parking on the roadside is forbidden above the crossroads.
b) From the route of Šentjur, Šmarje pri Jelšah or Rogaška Slatina, drive to Kozjansko or as far as Bistrica ob Sotli, from where you continue to Bizeljsko. When you reach the pass between Bizeljsko and Kozjansko, turn sharp right towards the Sanctuary of the Holy Mountain. Park in a suitable place just after the crossroads. Parking on the roadside is forbidden higher up.
Path description:
From where we parked, we continue along the ascending asphalt road towards Sveti Gory. The road quickly turns to the mostly northern and forested slopes of the summit of Rožce (619 m). As we climb through the forest, a path branches off to the right to the chapel of the Foot of God, some 10 metres away, and we continue straight ahead along the road, which then leads us out of the forest, where a beautiful view opens up towards the Church of the Mother of God on Sveti Gory. There is a short walk to a crossroads by a former mountain lodge, where we continue to the right to a nearby ramp.
At the ramp, continue left (straight ahead Svete gore along the road or the Way of the Cross) along the marked mountain path, which quickly turns into a forest. Through the forest, climb a slightly overgrown path for a short distance, and then you will reach the first of the five church buildings. First, you pass St Martin's Chapel and St George's Chapel, then St Mother of God's Church, followed by St Sebastian's Chapel and Fabijan's Chapel to the highest point, where the Lurška Chapel stands, with a beautiful view of Kozjansko and Obsotelje.
Description and pictures refer to the situation in 2014 (October).
