Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Maribor motorway, take the Šentrupert exit and follow the road towards Logarska dolina. In the village Ljubno ob Savinji, the sign for Smrekovec points to the right. The road then takes you through the centre of the village, where you turn left again after the Smrekovec sign. The road then leads to Ljubenske Rastke, where you turn left at the crossroads near the church. Follow this road to a sharp right turn in the middle of which a macadam road branches off straight ahead, which you follow to a small parking lot at the end of the road.
Path description:
From the parking lot at the old mill, cross the tributary of the Žep stream over a small bridge and then follow the cart track climbing along the Žep stream. After a few minutes' walk, you will see a path that turns sharp right and climbs steeply for a short distance. After a short climb, the path leads us out of the forest to a small clearing where the log cabin Planinc stands.
Proceed slightly left along the less favourable cart track, which begins to climb steeply parallel to the torrential gully, which is visible on the right below. Cart track then crosses the above-mentioned torrent after a while and leads to a crossroads immediately after it. Continue along the right-hand cart track, which first crosses the slopes to the right and then begins to climb steeply in a number of switchbacks. Higher up, we reach a forest road with a marked path leading to the Celje hospital, and we continue straight ahead. Just a little higher, we cross another forest road, and then we start to climb steeply along a slightly less visible path. The path through the forest joins the marked path from Ljubenski Rastky higher up. Continue on the path, which climbs crosswise through the forest, and when it emerges from the forest, it turns sharp left, where it passes the Bezovec peak, where there is a hunting observation post.
Follow the markings carefully as the path leads you through numerous crossroads of forest roads and tracks. The not to steep path then leads us to the Calf's Furnace, where there is a small wooden house. Here the path turns right and starts to climb more steeply. Higher up, the path joins cart track which is then followed to the top slope of Komno. Higher up, the path passes out of the forest onto grassy slopes that are increasingly more scenic, and then climbs up to a small wooden chapel (dedicated to St Cyril and Methodius), where there is also a crossroads. Continue straight up towards Komno (left Travnik, right Smrekovec) along the path, which after 10 minutes of further walking leads us to a scenic peak.
In the lower part, where the path is not marked, the numerous cart tracks and forest roads make orientation very difficult.
