Lipa - Trstelj

Access to the starting point:
From the expressway Razdrto - Nova Gorica, take the exit Selo and then follow the road towards the village of the same name. From Sela, descend to Dornberk, and at the first major crossroads, turn left towards Sežana. Follow the road for only 10 m and then turn right onto the narrower road towards the villages of Lipa, Škrbina and Kostanjevica na Krasu. Higher up, the road leads over the pass Železna vrata, and then leads to a crossroads, where we continue right towards the village Lipa (left down Šibelji and Škrbina). A little further on, we see the signs for the village Lipa, which direct us right into the centre of the village, where we then park under the church.

Path description:
At the starting point, you will see signs for Trstelj, which direct you to the left on a footpath that climbs along the right-hand side of the walls of the nearby church. Shortly above the church or cemetery, the footpath goes into the lane of bushes, where it gradually starts to climb moderately. Well-marked and occasionally a little steeper, the path goes higher into a partly pine forest and then joins a macadam road, which is followed to the right. The road, which is also asphalted in the last part, is then followed all the way to Stjenko's hut on Trstelj.
From the hut, turn left towards the summit and continue your ascent along a pleasant path that climbs through lane of sparse forest. Just a little higher up, you join the wide cart track, which will take you to the top of Trstelj in a few 10 steps of further walking.
