Leave the Zagreb-Split motorway at the Ogulin exit. In Ogulin, look for Vučići Street (it is by the roundabout, it is best to ask a local) and follow it to a small parking lot where you will see the mountain signs.
Path description:
The route officially starts at Ogulin railway station, but we will start the tour at the parking lot in Vučići Street in Ogulin. At the beginning of the trail, we will find a fence that will lead us into the forest. The path immediately starts to climb quite steeply through the forest, and only at the point where it approaches the ski slope does it lead us out of the forest. After a 15-minute climb, we reach the Bukovnik plateau. Our route here turns right and lays down transitively, and the path also leads us past two viewpoints from which we have a beautiful view towards Ogulin.
There is a slightly longer crossing, and then the path becomes steeper again, turning west at the left-hand bend. Higher up, we arrive at a crossroads where the path from Marković selo joins from the right. The path then becomes sloping again, passing partly through woods and partly through meadows.
The way ahead leads us to an interesting rocky part, and above it to a meadow where the markings are temporarily lost, and we follow them towards six trees in the middle of the meadow. Beyond the meadow, the path briefly returns to the forest, then leads us to a small meadow. Here we cross a well-maintained road and then re-enter the woods. There is a steeper climb for about 5 minutes and you arrive at the Kneja sports and recreation centre.
You can rest at Kneja before moving on. The road ahead leads to the Ogulin-Jasenak-Novi Vinodolski asphalt road. Walk along it for about 300 metres, and then, before a sharp left turn, you will see a fork in the road to the right.
After a minute you reach an abandoned quarry and climb above it (the path is exposed and you have to be careful) and then you enter the forest again.
Climb steeply through the forest, and the path goes from the northern slope to the western slopes. When you reach the power line, the path is laid. The path through the partly low forest becomes more and more rocky. A little further on, we arrive at a poorly marked crossroads where the path from the village of Puškarići joins from the right. Beyond the crossroads you will see the peak of Kleko, but we continue straight ahead and enter the forest at the area of the pass called Soviljica. There is a gentle path through the forest and we soon reach the next quarry.
Here the path seems to continue straight ahead, but the markings on the tree trunk direct you to the right, where you quickly reach a meadow, which you follow for about 20 minutes. The path across the meadow is easy to follow, and the club is well marked, although the markings are sparse in this area.
After crossing the meadow, which opens up a beautiful view towards the top of Klek, we will come to lane of bushes. A little further on, we arrive in the lane of the beech forest, and the path becomes quite steep. Climb steeply for a while and then join the path from the village of Bjelsko.
After the crossroads you reach a bench for resting, and after the bench there are two bends. After the second serpentine, there is a steep climb, and the path then soon flattens out. Here, where the path is laid, we are near a hut, which is also indicated by a welcome sign, and there is a memorial nearby.
At the hut, which is located at exactly 1000 metres above sea level, you can rest and have a snack, or you can spend the night (the hut is only stocked with drinks!).
From the hut, head west along a sloping path, which is partly rough and rocky, as it passes under cliffs, and also leads past an interesting cave. When the path starts to climb steeply, we reach a crossroads where we join the paths from Vitunj and Kamačnik.
The path continues up the steps, and above them we get an exceptional view. Continue left to the east and you will reach the most challenging part of the trail.
This part is also not protected by a rope, but by a cable. Even when the fixed safety gear ends, we continue to climb up the steep exposed slope for some time, but then the path does give way.
The path ahead takes us past a helipad, and we continue straight east along a narrow ridge, which is protected in places by rocks. A little further on, we arrive below the summit itself, where we climb to the top of Klek in a partly challenging ascent.
The route is named after Ferd Ursan, an Ogulina mountaineer.
