Polhov Gradec - Tošč (via Grmada)

Access to the starting point:
From Horjul or Dobrova, drive to Polhov Gradec, then continue to Črnji vrh. Just at the point where you see the sign for the end of Polhov Gradec, turn right in the direction of Macka graben and the Church of St Ursula. Just after the crossroads, park in one of the roadside car parks.

Path description:
From the starting point, continue along the asphalted road, which soon leads to a crossroads, where you continue right in the route Setnica (straight Mačkov graben). The ascent continues on a slightly steeper road, which after a few minutes' walk leads to the place where you leave. The markings point us slightly left on a footpath that starts to climb steeply through the forest. After a few minutes' further walking, you leave the forest and the path leads you to the Open Door Farm.
Continue on the marked path, which leads past houses to a less well-marked crossroads of cart tracks (or less well-marked roads).
Continue slightly to the right, following cart track, which starts to climb slightly and after a few steps enters the forest. Shortly after entering the forest, the mountain signs for Grmada direct you left onto a footpath which begins to climb steeply, first through the forest and then over increasingly scenic grassy slopes. Higher up, the trail leads to the headland of Grmada, where another trail from Polhov Gradec (via Ravnek) joins from the right.
The way forward first descends, then passes onto a rugged ridge along which it continues with a few shorter ascents and descents. The path then leaves the ridge and turns slightly to the right, where it begins to climb steeply again. Follow this path, which is joined by the paths from Belica and Topol, to the summit.
From Grmada continue along the marked path towards the tourist farm Gonte and Tošča. The path immediately starts to descend steeply through the forest, and we even have some fixed safety gear (easy) to help us. The path then lays down, and within a few minutes' walk we reach the Gonte Tourist Farm, where there is a marked crossroads.
Continue along the wide and winding cart track in the route Tošča. The marked path leaves the track a little higher up and then starts to climb more steeply. The path, which runs almost entirely through the forest, leads us higher up to the summit of Mali Tošč (902m), from which the path starts to descend towards the saddle between the two peaks.
Next, the path from Govejk joins us from the right, and we continue straight ahead on the path ascending to the summit of Tošča. After about 15 minutes of further walking, the path leads us to a pleasant summit. Polhov Gradec - Setnica, Setnica - Grmada 45 minutes, Grmada - Tošč 1:00.
