Access to the starting point:
Take the road from Radmir or via Kranjski rak to the village of Solčava and park there. Access to Solčava is also possible via the Pavlič saddle through the Logar valley from Jezersko.
Path description:
The trail starts in front of the Rinka multi-purpose centre and leads to the right across a wooden bridge over the Savinja. Turn left at the other side and after a few steps turn right steeply uphill into the forest. After about 20 minutes, the path leads to the 700-year-old Solčava Yew Tree. There is also a small farm called Hribarnik. Behind the farm's outbuildings, the path turns right into the forest onto a forest road/train. This logging trail turns slightly to the right at a higher altitude, and our path goes up through the forest. There are also markings on the trunks, which are less and less visible from here on. A little higher up, the path leads to a surface water pipe, which is followed steeply right up to a small water intake. From the intake, go a few steps further to the right to a beautiful viewpoint. From here, go straight up for a few dozen steps and then go slightly right uphill for about 50 m. Here you come to a kind of forest scree. From here on, the path just goes up the scree. Higher up, look out for a large beech tree supported by rocks under a steel cable on the left. A little lower down, under the beech, you can see the markings on the two rocks, which are still quite visible. If we missed it, we will come to the shelter of this forest scree. There is a vertical wall above us, so just go back down a little lower and look for these markings.
The path crosses to the left under a beech tree between two marked rocks to a steep ridge. Although it may not seem like a possible route, we are on the right track. After a few steps of steep climbing, we see a cable, actually a power line wire, which helps us in these last metres to Zijalka. We only see it when we are just in front of it.
The route is quite difficult in terms of orientation. The main difficulty is that the path runs through the forest. We also need to be conditioned to walk on steep terrain. It is good to have a rope in your rucksack, especially in winter.
