Description of peak:
The Old Castle (also Smlednik Castle) is located on a small hill south-west of Valburg. A few years ago, the castle was rebuilt and the nearby trees were cut down, so that from the top there is now a beautiful view over part of Kamnik Savinja Alps, Polhograjsko hribovje, the Sorrsko polje, the Škofjeloško hribovje and, with good visibility, over Julian Alps and part of the western and central Karavanke mountains.
Just a few metres below the summit, there is a refreshment rom and a registration box. Between the refreshment rom and the castle, there is also a short climbing route leading up to the castle walls.
